Record Store Tour: Day 13

image

We haven’t hit up a store in a while due to 9 hour drives so we really went all out at Reckless Records in Chicago. I think there are 3 locations or something but we went to the one a mile away from The Metro. The walk seemed a lot longer than I was expecting but the store was cool. It was the biggest store that we have hit so far and we were all excited to check out the records. There was something for everything here. Soul, Jazz, Punk, Rock, etc. It was like a record store at home but if all the selection were LPs which is a real nice change. We were all able to pick something out here so there were a lot of records.

I got:

Citizens Arrest “A Light In The Darkness”

Iceburn “Burn Fall”

 Ben got:

Quicksand “Divorced”

Split Lip “Anti Matter Single”

Digger Weston “Wilkum to Pennsylvania”

The Movielife “Self Destruct”

Osker/Blindsided “Split”

Samiam “B Sides”

Rumbleseat “Is Dead”

Aaron got:

Bad Brains “I Against I”

Tim got:

Texas Is The Reason “Do You Know Who You Are?”

Shane got:

Randy Newman “Retrospect”

Slint “Spiderland”

and Bedwick got:

Bill Evans

Record Store Tour: Day 9

Again, I would like to apologize to record stores in New Haven and Montreal, but we visited a store in each city that was within walking distance and could only find Beatles records and Metallica CD box sets. And to Red Scroll who hit us up, sorry we couldn’t make the drive. Our friend Vik took us to a store called Hits and Misses in Toronto and it is one of my favorites we hit the whole tour. They had a great selection and a lot of stuff that I was interested in, and a nicely organized sore. They were also showing pictures from Montreal photographer Benoit Pipin and they had some really cool pictures hanging in the store and I actually picked up his book that he just put out.

I picked up:

Dry Spell “Dry Spell”

and

Seaweed “Service Deck/The Weight”

and Shane got:

Heads Vs Breakers “Apathy is the New Black”

and

Minus The Bear “Acoustics”

Record Store Tour: Day 6

So we I guess we didn’t realize how hard it would be to be driving every day, going to record stores, and posting on this so sorry for the delay. We visited Last Vestige in Albany, NY while running on our way to New Haven, CT. The store was small and had only a limited selection of “punk” records but Aaron and I were able to find some records that we wanted.

I picked up:

Fastbreak “Don’t Stop Trying”

and

Victory Records “Only The Strong Survive” Comp

and Aaron got:

Sick of it All “Scratch the Surface”

and

V.O.D/Nunchaku “Through My Eyes” Japanese split

Record Store Tour: Day 5

We fell a little behind in posting about our record store visits, but we’re gonna get caught up. On our day off in Boston we stopped in and visited our good friend Jeff at Run For Cover Records (not exactly a record store, but an awesome label). We saw his really nice new office and hung out with his puppy (Ralph).  Jeff has a ton of cool new releases coming out before the end of the year, so make sure you check them all out. He always is signing some of the best new bands.

The next morning went hit up the Roxy’s Grilled Cheese truck in Boston, and got some delicious sandwiches. Highly recommended. Shouts to James for the hookup! Can’t wait to get some more next time.

I got the chance to stop at this record store for a short amount of time while in Philly yesterday. They had a pretty big selection and I didn’t have time to look through everything.

and Matt Bedwick got

Record Store Tour: Day 1

Yesterday, we played our first show of the AP tour. We decided to try and visit record stores in every city we play and post about it here. The tour started in Allentown, PA so I visited Double Decker Records. We were running really late so I couldn’t spend as much time as I wanted but it was just a great store.

Arthur from War Hungry took me here. I spent 30 minutes here and picked up what I could. I got:

Dag Nasty “Can I Say”

The Snobs “Control E.P.”

Skewbald/Grand Union “Skewbald/Grand Union”

Bedford/Witness “Split”

and

Detroit Birds “Detroit Birds”

and Merch Man Timmy got

Jazz June “The Boom, The Motion, and The Music”

I also was able to pick up a handy record carrying case for $5.

Tomorrow we are in Baltimore.
